PwC study recommends action be taken to drive the Atlantica Region's forestry industry to forefront of renewable energy economy

Actions must be taken to implement renewable energy technologies in the Atlantica Region's forest products industry, says a new report released today by the Atlantica BioEnergy Task Force. The study, compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) recommends 15 distinct actions to be taken in the areas of sustainable forest management, biomass management, energy policy, education, research and development and technology implementation that will drive the Atlantica Region to the forefront of the renewable energy economy.

Seattle, USA, August 22, 2008. Wood fiber costs, the major cost component when producing wood pulp, increased in practically all major pulp-producing regions around the world in the 2Q/08, according to the market report Wood Resource Quarterly (WRQ). This was both a result of a continued weakening of the US dollar against most major currencies and because of higher transport costs for both pulpwood and wood chips.
